Holly describes in her own words the inspiration behind ‘she floats in shadows’:
“August 3, 2026 marks the one-year anniversary of my mother’s passing. My latest release ‘she floats in shadows’ honors her and the spiritual impact she had on all of our lives—mine, my sister’s, and my brother’s.
Her spirit came through most powerfully in music, where total freedom of expression is available and everyone and anyone can connect. Indeed, in a moment, music can instantly set a whole somber crowd free.
She was especially fond of gospel music and often accompanied gospel choirs. When I was about five or six, I remember being one of the few white faces in a beautiful gospel-filled Black church. The love was palpable, and I can still clearly hear the vibrant, heart-filled voices of the swaying choir singing the chorus of “Oh Happy Day” by the Edwin Hawkins Singers, with my mother on passionate accompaniment.
She gave us kids the understanding of the power of belief, to shoot for the stars, and to go for it.
