A few words from Holly about this track:
“‘trees’ is the final offering of the 4-track EP entitled “girl with the grey blue eyes,” dedicated to my mother and my final weeks with her this past year.
About 10 days before her passing, an intense thunderstorm blew in and the power went out, affording the necessary natural late evening light to see the view outside my mother’s hospice room.
My mother liked the curtains closed, but that evening let me pull them back for her to see outside. I said “Mother! Look at the show!” The weeping willows swayed back and forth in the torrential rain; the pond rippled in waves with the force of the wind. I crawled up in her inclined hospital bed and lay beside her, in the silence, just savoring the moments, one of my final gifts from her, and oh so priceless.
